2019 vintage is in line with the top vintages of the decade. After a nice winter, spring came slowly, where our famous wind “Mistral” helped keep very healthy environments in the vineyard during that important growing season.
The last week of June, Rhône Valley vineyards went through a heat wave with temperatures above 45°C (113 °F).
Fortunately, our biodynamic sprays of horn dungs, silicas, chamomiles, nettles and essential oils, combined with the good water reserve of the soils from 2018, helped the vines to continue their growth in great conditions. Thanks to August and September gentle rains we were able to pick beautiful grapes, healthy and balanced.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape is characterized by the diversity of its soils, with a mosaic of plots where different varieties grow together on limestone rock, round pebbles on a clay substrate with varying amounts of iron, and fine sedimentary sand.
Selected plots, of mainly old vines of the 13 varieties of the appellation planted together.
WinemakingThe grapes are hand-picked and sorted in the vineyard. Long, gentle pressing, co-fermentation in small oak foudres.
Matured for 6 months in these same foudres.
The only 2019 white I was able to taste, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Boisrenard Blanc is a richer effort, yet still stays chiseled and focused, with classy notes of pear, white flowers, crushed citrus, and hints of honeysuckle. It shows a kiss of salinity on the palate and is mediumbodied, has bright acidity, and a beautiful finish.

it does show some classy hints of cedar shavings on the nose and a wonderfully slinky, silky texture on the medium to full-bodied palate, both serving to highlight the wine's restrained melon and citrus flavors.
