2019 vintage is in line with the top vintages of the decade. After a nice winter, spring came slowly, where our famous wind “Mistral” helped keep very healthy environments in the vineyard during that important growing season.
The last week of June, Rhône Valley vineyards went through a heat wave with temperatures above 45°C (113 °F).
Fortunately, our biodynamic sprays of horn dungs, silicas, chamomiles, nettles and essential oils, combined with the good water reserve of the soils from 2018, helped the vines to continue their growth in great conditions. Thanks to August and September gentle rains we were able to pick beautiful grapes, healthy and balanced.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape is characterized by the diversity of its soils, with a mosaic of plots where different varieties grow together on limestone rock, round pebbles on a clay substrate with varying amounts of iron, and fine sedimentary sand.
Selected plots, of mainly old vines of the 13 varieties of the appellation planted together, predominantly Grenache.
WinemakingThe grapes are hand-picked and sorted in the vineyard. Co-fermentation, long vatting for soft extractions.
AgeingMatured for 12 months in conical vats, foudres and barrels.
A smaller production cuvee, the 2019 Châteauneuf DuPape Boisrenard is a bigger, more structured wine thatstill stays in the poised, elegant, and lively style of theestate. Beautiful black cherry and red currant fruits,notes of ground herbs, pepper, and new leather, full-bodied richness, and building tannins all result in abeautiful, age-worthy Châteauneuf du Pape that’sgoing to benefit from 3-5 years of bottle age.

Powerful nose that is shrouded in high-quality oak (which doesn't
dominate). Huge concentration of dark spice-led fruit, cedary notes and wonderfully supple tannins – a blend of savoury and sweet with nothing overpowering each element. Really tight and compact but packed full of concentration.
